Saturday July 20, 2024        10 am to 12 noon.
Event for all ages. Pre-register :
$10.00 per person or $25.00 1 adult/3 children

This is our 3rd year for this event let’s make it fun

This is not a race but a fun event to raise money for a local charity & the Minden Food Bank.

1. The event is for non motorized watercraft —- kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, paddle boats —- anything without a motor.

2. LIFE JACKETS must be worn.

3. Open to all ages.

4. Participants visit 5 dock (stations) & collect a token at each.

5. When you have collected all 5 tokens or at 12 o’ clock, return to Station 5 & exchange the tokens for 5 cards which you’ll pick from the dealer - best poker hand will of course be the winner.

6. Children under 15 will exchange their tokens for a draw ticket.

The winner gets 50% of the registration fees — the more participants the greater the winnings.

The remaining 50% will go to a local charity. SLACAR has a list of local charities and the winner can choose which one they’d like the donation to be given.

REGISTRATION FEE is $10 per person or $25 for an adult & 3 children. PLEASE bring a non perishable food item for the Minden Food Bank.

You may pre register by an e-transfer online at: ( please indicate that it’s for the poker run), OR on the day of at the Registration Dock (look for the sign).

At 12 o’ clock hot dogs will be provided at Station 5 for all participants. Thanks again to Cindy McAlister & her husband ( he has the hot dog stand at Canadian Tire) for donating the hot dogs.

We hope to see many non motorized watercraft out on the lake on July 20th —- Let’s have some fun!

June 15, 2024
South Lake cottagers and residents can help out by removing Chinese Mystery Snails off the shoreline of South Lake on June 15. See the information on the 'Lake Info Updates' page.

Despite the weather, the Annual Corn Roast was very successful.

On behalf of all SLACAR members a huge THANK YOU to Lynda and Randy Cook for opening their property for the event. Their daughter Laura did a great job entertaining the kids with a variety of games. Thank you to Judy and John Flanagan for donating many prizes for the kid's games.

A huge thank you to all those who volunteered their time to cook corn, barbeque hot dogs, organize the Loonie Auction and the Horseshoe Tournament and for donations to the Loonie Auction and the Food Bank.

BUT, most of all thanks to everyone that came out and supported the event and made the day a success!

Gayle, SLACAR President
